A friend from high school just celebrated her son’s 6th birthday. I remember getting a call from her when my oldest son was only a couple of months old. I was walking into work when she told me that she was pregnant. Her and her boyfriend were not planning on having a baby, yet here they were. I have often wondered time again which is the better way to describe [as well as being grammatically correct] this essential role in the transmission of the Faith within the family. Interestingly this FAQ website about “godparents” uses both terms: and it uses “Godparent” in the section to describe what is expected of one within the Roman Catholic Church and customs around infant and adult baptism.
